Senior slugger Adi Dodge is off to a blistering start for the Breckenridge-Wahpeton Storm.
The Breckenridge-Wahpeton Storm grabbed its first wins of the softball season Thursday in a road sweep of Barnesville by scores of 13-2 and 13-1, improving to 2-2 in Heart O’ Lakes Conference play.
Adi Dodge led the lineup with a 7-for-8 day at the dish. Dodge racked up six RBIs and five runs, hitting a pair of doubles in the process. Dodge is batting .692 with three extra-base hits and nine RBIs across 15 plate appearances.
Claire Langenwalter collected two hits in each game atop the order. Audrey Boesen also posted a four-hit afternoon, as the Storm piled up 24 combined hits. Langenwalter also sparked the order with two steals.
Storm pitcher Marley Mumm evened her season record at 2-2 while continuing to chew up innings. Mumm tossed a five-inning complete game while holding the Trojans to a pair of singles. She returned to the circle for another five-inning gem, scattering five hits and one unearned run while striking out eight.
Mumm owns an impressive 1.21 ERA with 23 strikeouts and six walks through four starts, holding opponents to a stingy .217 batting average.
Brielle Kelsen, Kaylie Moses, Aubrey Boesen and Adri Boesen tallied two RBIs each in the 13-1 win. Collyn Hought, Dodge, Aubrey Boesen, Langenwalter and Hought all scored multiple runs.
Dodge spearheaded the running game with three stolen bases in the 13-2 win. The Storm swiped nine bags in total. Aubrey Boesen posted two steals in each game and now leads the squad with five steals in the early going.
