Cowboys score 13 combined runs in sixth inning to sweep Barnesville

Despite trailing by four runs, Breckenridge rallied to defeat Barnesville 9-6 on Thursday to begin a conference doubleheader in thrilling fashion. The Cowboys rallied again in the nightcap for a 10-3 win, improving to 3-0 on the season.

The opener was tied at six in the bottom of the sixth when Tucker Snyder singled, scoring three runs. In total, the Cowboys scored seven runs in the frame to grab a 9-6 lead. 

Jaxson Riggs started the game for Breckenridge, giving up five hits and one earned run over 4 2/3 innings, striking out seven and walking three. Riggs fanned five of the first seven batters he faced.

Lawson Oliphant earned the win in relief for Breckenridge with three strikeouts over 1 2/3 frames. Charlie Kratcha secured the save for Breckenridge, allowing zero hits and zero runs in the seventh.

Logan Ehlert took the hill first for Barnesville. The lefty gave up 10 hits and four earned over five innings, striking out four and walking three. 

Breckenridge again went wild in the sixth inning of game two, scoring six runs in a 10-3 win. Riggs, Quenten Lugert, Connor Ernst, Jaxson Lopez and Gabe Armitage all doubled.

Charlie Kratcha earned the win with nine strikeouts, holding the Trojans to one hit across five innings. The righty wrapped up a big week that included two wins and a save on the mound.

Connor Ernst finished the contest with two scoreless innings that included two walks and two strikeouts.
