Minnewaska goes ahead in seventh to spoil Storm home opener

The Breckenridge-Wahpeton Storm suffered a 7-6 loss Monday in the team’s home opener. Mileigh Lundebrek delivered a game-winning infield single from the No. 9 spot in the order to give Minnewaska the final lead in the top of the seventh.

Aubrey Boesen made the play of the game with a hip-slide catch in right field, but several Storm errors allowed the Lakers to climb back from a 5-3 deficit.

Kaylie Moses was the only Storm batter to score twice, adding two walks and a single while driving in one. Claire Langenwalter reached base three times and was hit-by-pitch twice in the leadoff spot.

Marley Mumm took the loss in the circle, going the distance while striking out four batters and working around constant traffic on the bases. Mumm left the bases loaded on two occasions.

The Storm (2-3) return to their home field Thursday in a 4 p.m. doubleheader on B 92.7 FM and KBMW News Live YouTube. Robert Wanek and Brady DeVries have the call.

Ella Roering was chased after 3 2/3 innings, settling for a no-decision. Kendyll Jenson earned the win in long relief and Norah VanZee locked up the save, working around a walk and drawing a groundout to end the game.
