Fergus Falls native Chris Tungseth is one of five remaining finalists on American Idol. The long-haired, smooth-singing 27-year-old once again earned the approval of fans following Monday’s show on ABC.
Voting efforts were promoted heavily throughout the week in Fergus Falls and the surrounding area, and Tungseth has built a growing fanbase among American Idol viewers nationwide with his soft-spoken demeanor and humble demeanor on and off the stage.
The 27-year-old advanced via fan vote after performing “Exile” by Taylor Swift and “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish, continuing to showcase his versatile blend of power and grace on the stage.
Now, American Idol will travel to Fergus Falls for a “Hometown Hero” segment that will highlight Tungseth’s community with a special filming. Stay tuned to our website for information on the event.
Tungseth is a construction Tradesman who played high school football and basketball at Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in Fergus Falls. He scored a school-record 45 points in a game vs. Breckenridge. He went on to play college basketball at M-State Fergus Falls.
Tungseth was the final contestant to audition for 2026 American Idol, which airs Monday nights on ABC and Disney+.
