Fergus Falls native Chris Tungseth performs Monday on American Idol

Fergus Falls native Chris Tungseth was the last artist to audition for American Idol. He earned the approval of star judges Lionel Richie, Miranda Lambert and Luke Bryan, and he’s been earning the approval of America ever since. Tungseth will compete alongside the top seven contestants on Monday’s show.

American Idol relies on fan voting to advance artists, and Tungseth has benefited from his golden vocals and fantastic support from the city of Fergus Falls and small towns throughout the valley. Over the weekend, cardboard cutouts of Tungseth were placed throughout Fergus Falls with instructions on how to vote for the hometown talent, hoping to earn him a spot in the show’s top five.

Tungseth has wowed the judges by performing hits like “Apologize” by Timbaland and OneRepublic, “Cold as Ice” by foreigner and “Let it Go” from Disney’s Frozen soundtrack. The down-to-earth, faith-based artist will perform tonight on ABC and Disney+ at 7 p.m. central.
