Some good news on the drought picture over the past two weeks is that much of the central and southern portions of the Red River Basin have received from one quarter to on half inch of rain. Most areas however still saw less than half of their normal rainfall for the period. Far northeast and northcentral North Dakota continued to be exceptionally dry. Prospects for a widespread wetting rain over the next 7-days is quite low according to Greg Gust from the National Weather Service in Grand Forks.
