The N.D. Class A boy state basketball tournament began on Thursday with quarterfinal play at the Bismarck Events Center.

The Eastern Dakota Conference won three of the four games for the west.

West Fargo Sheyenne beat Mandan 66-54, West Fargo held off Bismarck 88-83 and Fargo Davies topped Bismarck Legacy 73-58. The only Western Dakota Conference team to win was Minot in an 83-67 victory over Fargo North.

The semifinals are set for Saturday with Sheyenne playing West Fargo at 6 p.m. and Davies taking on Minot at 8 p.m.

The Class A girls quarterfinals are today with Fargo Davies vs. Jamestown at noon, Watford City vs. Grand Forks Red River at 2:30 p.m., Devils Lake vs. Bismarck Century at 5 p.m. and Fargo Shanley vs Bismarck Legacy at 7:30 p.m.
