The Wahpeton golf team endured another cold, windy tournament, finishing in ninth place Monday with a 336 at the Don Johnson Memorial Tournament in Moorhead.
“Our splits show that we can improve our scores, but we’re still plagued by double and triple bogeys,” Huskies head coach Jeff Ralph said.
Freshman Kyler Flack led the team with an 82.
Kyler started the day with a nice birdie on a par 5 and then did a great job of managing the course. Kyler had seven pars on the day to go along with his birdie,” Ralph said. “Kyler has been our most consistent golfer over the past couple weeks and he’s becoming more confident each tournament.”
Senior Brennen Ritter also had a nice birdie on the par-5 fourteenth alongside eight pars in the round.
“Brennen has been solid for us all season and today with another good showing,” Ralph said.
Senior Michael Petersen had a disastrous start to his day with back to back triple bogeys. He righted the ship after going 12-over through the first eight holes by shooting 2-over the rest of the round.
Michael played the front nine in 1-over par 37. What a great indication of what Michael’s capable of on the golf course,” Ralph said. “Also a great job by Michael of persevering through a rough start to post a good score for our team.
NEXT MEET: the final individual qualifier at Creel Bay in Devils Lake on Thursday, May 21.
