Sadie Wright twirled a complete-game no-hitter Tuesday, helping Border West defeat Breckenridge-Wahpeton in a 2-1 pitcher’s duel. The Buccaneers’ ace struck out nine Storm batters, allowing one earned run and three baserunners.

Marley Mumm had a stellar outing herself, pitching seven frames for the sixth straight game. The Storm sophomore allowed two unearned runs on five hits and two walks. Mumm eclipsed 100 innings for the season, striking out four to bring her punchout total to 105, and lowering her ERA to a microscopic 1.75.

Border West struck first when Makaya Hennessy plated a run with a double off the left field fence. The Storm answered in the fourth when Adi Dodge reached via error to score Collyn Hought.

The Buccaneers scored the go-ahead run in the fifth when No. 9 hitter Parker Stotesberry reached on a bunt single and came around to score on an error.

Ava Jaehning made the play of the game at second base. The Storm infielder snared a backhand grounder and threw the runner out from her knees in a cloud of dust.

Skylie Pulskamp also delivered a diving catch in shallow center field. Adi Dodge added to the defensive highlight reel by catching a runner stealing from her backstop position.

The Storm fell to 10-7 with the loss. Border West moves to 14-4.
