Hofman takes 12th at Rose Creek

By Huskies head coach Jeff Ralph | Edited for on-air reads

It was another cold and windy Monday for the Eastern Dakota Conference golf teams at Rose Creek. Grand Forks Red River showed their dominance, running away with the team title by 18 shots.

Wahpeton was led by senior Josh Hofman’s 6-over-par 77. Hofman carded three birdies and four pars to place 12th.

“Josh has been playing well and making several birdies each tournament,” Huskies head coach Jeff Ralph said. “(He) needs to eliminate the doubles, but he seems to be able to bounce back with a birdie when needed.”

Connor Haugen, junior, fired his lowest round of the season. He drained a 20-foot downhill putt on his last hole for a great sand-save par and shot a 2-over-par 37 on the back nine.

“Connor has been one of our most consistent players and today he showed what he’s capable of doing on the golf course,” Ralph said.

The Huskies also had a good round from freshman Christian Schuler.

“In his third varsity tournament, Christian had a tough start through the first three holes, then he straightened it out and had a nice 4-over-par 40 on the front nine,” Ralph said.

NEXT MEET: Wednesday, May 6 at Crossroads Golf Course in Carrington. This is the first individual qualifier of the season.
