Oakes greeted the Huskie track and field program to a very windy day Thursday.  Taking advantage of the strong south winds, three more Huskies qualified for the state meet. Jackson DeVries and Treyton Mauch finished second and fourth in the 100-meter dash, respectively, with qualifying times of 11.02 and 11.28 seconds.

Leah DeVries won the girls 100-meter division with a time of 12.94 seconds.

The boys 4×100 relay also qualified for state, winning the race in 45.18 seconds. Members of the team included Mauch, Jackson DeVries, Cayden Barth and JD Gomez.

Mauch had a huge 21’02” leap in the long jump, which also was state-qualifying and good for third place. Mauch and Gomez finished first and second, respectively, in the 300-meter hurdles. Jackson DeVries was the winner of the 200-meter dash.

The girls were led by double wins from Scout Woods, discus and shot put, and Jaida Fobb, 400-meter and high jump. The girls 4×400 relay team also placed first, running Fobb, DeVries, Lucie Comstock, and Gracie Falck.
