The NDSCS basketball teams both captured Region XIII Championships on Sunday, marking back-to-back region titles for the Wildcat men and women.

The top-seeded men rolled over No. 2 seed Dawson, 90-70, at Ed Werre Arena in Wahpeton. 

The Wildcats were led by a monster game from sophomore forward Benjamin Fort, who scored a season-high 28 points on 9-of-14 shooting. Sophomore point guard Peyton Newbern was also electric, posting 21 points, 10 assists and six rebounds. 

NDSCS dominated the interior, as Detavius Frierson had 12 points and six boards, and Calvin Sisk recorded nine points, 11 rebounds and six blocks.

The Wildcats extended their school-record winning streak to 29. The Buccaneers closed out the season with a 25-7 record.

The No. 2 seed Lady Wildcats defeated No. 1 seed Williston State on the Tetons’ home floor in a 57-54 overtime victory. NDSCS advances to the district title round with a 26-6 record.

Shania Nichols-Vannett tallied 14 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. Savanna Jones scored 14, Michelle Arens 12 and Jordan Toman 10. Quinn Neppl supplied six points and 10 rebounds despite dealing with a back injury.

Taylor Moffat led Williston State with 19 points. The Tetons end their season with a 27-5 record.
