No. 2 seed Breckenridge advanced to the semifinals of the Section 6A girls basketball playoffs with a 59-58 win over No. 3 seed West Central Area on Saturday in Minnewaska.
Sophomore point guard Emily Gowin drained a baseline floater with three seconds remaining to give Breckenridge the lead. Gowin also blocked the potential game-winning three as the Cowgirls staved off the Knights.
Parker Yaggie led Breckenridge with 19 points and eight rebounds — scoring 17 points in the second half. Gowin tallied 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Piper Jaehning was a key factor on the glass with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Stats for West Central Area were not immediately available.
The Cowgirls (16-12) will face No. 1 seed Hancock (26-2) at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Minnewaska for a berth in the section title game.
