In a battle between two of the top teams in Section 6A, the Breckenridge Cowgirls couldn’t complete the comeback in a 74-70 road loss to Park Christian on Tuesday. 

The Cowgirls fell behind 11-2 and played from behind the whole game. With 10:41 remaining in the opening half, Parker Yaggie sank a free throw for her 1,000th point. She entered the game needing eight and went for 21. 

Emily Gowin matched her 21 with a 14-point second half. 

Libby Suckert also caught fire in the second half with 17 of her 21 points coming in the final period. 

Breck trailed by 10 at halftime and got the lead down to three with a few seconds left in the game. Annika Johnson sank a free throw to make it a four-point lead and the Cowgirls’ final shot missed the mark. 

Next up for the 12-7 Cowgirls is a 7:30 p.m. Thursday road battle with Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton.
