Wahpeton senior Bridger Hansen hit a 3-pointer with just over a minute to play to give the Huskies a two-point lead and Wahpeton hung on for a 92-90 win over Grand Forks Red River in EDC play Tuesday.

The 92 points were a season high for the Huskies, who scored 50 points in the first half for a seven-point lead.

The Huskies led by eight with just over five minutes to play before the Roughriders went on a 9-0 run to take an 88-87 lead with two minutes to go.

Hansen hit the go-ahead shot with the shot clock running down on Wahpeton’s next possession,

Hansen finished with 17 points, including making three 3-pointers.

Desire Munezero led Wahpeton with 22 points to go with nine rebounds and had four 3s while Tyler Tollefson added 20 points and a game-high seven assists. Ethan Manock scored 13 points and had nine boards off the bench, including two dunks in the second half, and Carter Hoerer chipped in 12 points five rebounds and five assists,

Paine Parks led all scorers with 35 points for Red River.

Both teams combined for 27 3-pointers in the game with Red River making 14 and Wahpeton 13. Red River’s Zach Kraft had eight 3-pointers on his own for 26 points.

Wahpeton snapped a two-game losing streak in the EDC and improved to 9-8 overall and 8-8 in EDC points while moving up to fifth place.

Red River fell to 5-11 overall and 5-9 EDC points.

The Huskies hit the road on Friday to play at Grand Forks Central at 7:15 p.m.
