The Wahpeton Huskies played right with No. 1 ranked West Fargo for the first 28 minutes Friday night at Wahpeton High School, but the Packers used a 17-2 run over a five-minute stretch for a 93-78 win.

The Huskies fall to 6-4 overall and 6-4 in the Eastern Dakota Conference. The Packers remain undefeated at 8-0, 7-0 EDC.

Wahpeton led West Fargo 45-43 at the half and trailed 62-59 with 12 minutes to go in the game. But a 10-0 run by the Packers started their 17-2 push for a 79-61 cushion with six minutes left. Wahpeton got as close as 11 points late in the game, but no closer.

Wahpeton senior Tyler Tollefson set his career high with 31 points, 21 coming in the first half. Tollefson made five 3-pointers in the game and was perfect 6 of 6 on free throws.

Senior Desire Munezero added 26 points as he combined with Tollefson to score 57 of the team’s point total.

Bridger Hansen and Carter Hoerer each scored 7 points.

West Fargo had four players in double figures, Joel Pease leading the way with 23, 12 coming in the second half. Carson Hegerle added 22 points.

Wahpeton now has a week off before hosting West Fargo Sheyenne to start the second half of the EDC season next Thursday at Wahpeton High School
