The Breckenridge Cowboys opened the Stevin Lipp era as head coach of the team with resounding 87-45 win over Upsala on Friday at Breckenridge High School.

The game was the first under Lipp, who took over the program after Arly Ohm was not renewed this summer.

The Cowboys led from the start in the game, including 50-27 at halftime.

Senior Cooper Yaggie poured in 29 points, including four 3-pointers.

Breckenridge finished with five players in double figures, with Sebastian Anderson scoring 12 points, Anthony Conzemius 11 and Jonah Christensen and Reese Pederson 10 each.

Pederson led the team with six rebounds while Anderson and Christensen had five. Anderson also had five assists in the game and four steals.

Breckenridge will begin Heart O’ Lakes Conference play by hosting Pelican Rapids on Tuesday.
