A celebration of life for beloved Wahpeton sports superfan Al Odden will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Wahpeton High School. Al passed away at the age of 73 on April 11.
Al was a teacher in the Wahpeton School District for many years.
Al passionately supported all Wahpeton athletics, and he became a fixture of summer baseball in the community, especially during Wahpeton’s recent state championship seasons in American Legion Baseball (2021, 2023-24). He traveled across the state to attend nearly every game.
He was often seen helping the grounds crew prior to home games and was invited to throw out the first pitch in the summer of 2024. Following Wahpeton’s 2023 state title, Al was invited to ride with the team down Dakota Avenue during Post 20’s escort through downtown Wahpeton.
