Pelican Rapids beats Breckenridge 66-63 for Heart O’ Lakes title

Following a 66-63 come-from-behind win over Breckenridge on Friday, the Pelican Rapids Vikings are the 2026 Heart O’ Lakes Conference champions. The Cowboys held a 36-30 halftime lead on the road, needing a win to share the conference crown with the Vikings.

Miguel Torres led the Vikings (21-5, 15-1) with 15 points, Jack Welch scored 14 and CJ Fahje added 10. Grady Larson narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and 11 rebounds. Ethan Isaman dished out a game-high seven assists.

Cooper Roberts led the Cowboys (20-6, 12-3) with 25 points, marking the senior’s fourth straight game with 20-plus. The 6-foot-5 point forward added 12 rebounds, two blocks and two steals.

Junior guard/forward Aidan Sanchez added 12 points, five rebounds and two steals. Freshman point guard Brock Summerville scored seven off the bench and senior forward Levi Christensen collected six points, four rebounds and a team-high three assists.

The Cowboys received the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Section 6A Tournament and will host the winner of No. 13 Norman County East-Ulen Hitterdal and No. 20 Parkers Prairie. Opening-round tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. March 5 in Breckenridge.
