The Breckenridge-Wahpeton Bolts qualified three athletes for the 10-under age group state swim meet in Bismarck this past weekend. They were coached by Alysha Oliphant, who reported the girls were excited to be competing at the state level, and eager to show off all their hard work.
Evelyn Beyer had a full roster with seven events. Her best performance featured a four-second drop in the 25 breaststroke, earning a fourth-place medal with a time of 25.52. Beyer also improved her 50 breaststroke (57.50) to pick up a seventh-place medal. She placed 13th in 100 freestyle, improved in 25 freestyle for 16th place, and just missed the top 16 in 50 freestyle. Beyer held her times well in the 25 and 50 backstroke, placing 33rd and 22nd.
Josie Biffert, 7, competed in the 25 backstroke. She performed well, holding on to her qualifying time (27.8) and placing 37th. This was the first state appearance for Biffert.
Kialie Brevik, 9, had a strong swim in the 100 backstroke, improving over three seconds for 27th place with a time of 1:37.47.
The younger athletes will continue training, however, the Bolts’ focus shifts to prepare for the 11-over state meet March 20-23.
