President Donald Trump is expected to announce a $12 billion farm aid package today at the White House.
The aid package includes $11 billion in one time payments to crop farmers from the Department of Agriculture’s Farmer Bridge Assistance program. Another $1 billion will go toward crops that are not covered by the program. Trump will announce the aid package at a White House event attended by soybean, corn, rice, cattle, potato, sorghum, and cotton farmers.
The package is an effort from the Trump administration to aid farmers who have been negatively impacted by the administration’s tariffs and decreased crop prices.
