Blades fall behind early in season opener

The Breckenridge-Wahpeton Blades fell behind early in their 2025 season and home opener, dropping a 5-1 home match to Becker/Big Lake. Michael Petersen netted the Blades’ lone goal on a third-period power play assisted by Josh Hofman and Luke Craig.

The Eagles scored twice in the first period and added a trio of goals in the second. Tate Spilde finished with a hat trick, while Titus Borkoski and Finn Kellogg scored once.

Cale Gilbertson was 19 0f 24 on save attempts for Breckenridge-Wahpeton. Elliot Grafnitz stopped 21 of 22 shots for Becker/Big Lake.
