NDSCS softball wins 10th straight with Crossover Tournament sweep

The No. 2-ranked North Dakota State College of Science softball team won its 10th straight game Friday, March 28, during a 3-0 showing at the Crossover Tournament in Rochester, Minnesota.

NDSCS blanked Rochester Community & Technical, 10-0, before beating St. Cloud Tech and Itasca by scores of 9-3 and 10-1, respectively.

The Wildcats are now 19-10-1 and return to the Mon-Dak Conference schedule this weekend with a four-game trip to Miles Community College (20-8).

Both programs are 8-0 in conference play.

The NDSCS lineup is batting .339 with 15 home runs and 55 doubles. The Wildcats are 94-for-102 on stolen base attempts.

Meredith Frey leads the team with a .420 batting average and 21 steals. Rayelle Cooley is also torching the softball with a .411 average. NDSCS has nine qualified hitters slashing above .300 on the season.

Blythe Proulx leads the squad in home runs (5) and RBIs (25). Kendyl Moss has 23 RBIs and paces the team in doubles (9). 

The Wildcat pitching staff sports a sparkling 2.31 earned run average with 127 strikeouts. Opponents are hitting .259 this season.

Emma Johnson leads the team with 54.1 innings pitched. She sports a 5-4 record, 2.19 ERA and 54 strikeouts to 11 walks. 

Ella Stewart is 4-2 with a 1.17 ERA and Heeley Taylor is 5-2 with a 2.22 ERA.

KBMW’s 2024 Outstanding Spring Athlete Grace Folkema is rounding into form after battling an illness to begin the spring. She owns a 5-2 record with a 3.89 ERA.
