The Wahpeton Lady Huskies led by two at halftime against top-seeded Valley City in the Region 1A Tournament, but the Hi-Liners came out firing with a 16-4 run to start the second half on their way to a 53-40 victory at the Sanford Health Athletic Complex on Tuesday.
Wahpeton locked down Valley City in the first half to take a 25-23 lead into the locker room.
Scout Woods scored over half of her team’s points with 22, including the Huskies’ first 10. Woods is now 32 points away from 2,000 for her career, as No. 5 seed Wahpeton plays No. 2 seed Kindred at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Region 1A semifinals at North Dakota State University. Only two other Huskies were able to get in the scoring column against Valley City with Halle Miller pouring in 14 and Piper Nelson chipping in four.
