Carol Colby | Senior guard Kaleb Albertson shakes hands with Breckenridge head coach Jordan Christensen during the Cowboys’ pregame Senior Night celebration
The Breckenridge Cowboys basketball team honored their seniors the right way with a 71-43 home win over the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Thunder on Monday.
The Senior Night festivities got started with Kaleb Albertson drilling three triples to key a 13-0 run to open the game. The senior knocked down another triple in the second half to finish with a dozen points.
But it wasn’t just the seniors having all the fun as Charlie Kratcha caught fire, drilling six shots from downtown in the opening half alone. He would finish with 23 points on seven 3-pointers. Kratcha’s first half output was enough to singlehandedly outscore the Thunder roster 18-15 in the opening period.
Eleven Cowboys got in the scoring column as Breckenridge got back to .500 with a 9-9 record.
Long Prairie was led by Dirk Fellbaum with 14 points. The Thunder fell to 1-15.
Breckenridge is back in action today on the road against Mahnomen-Waubun. Tip-off has been moved up to 6:30 p.m.
