A Vietnam veteran who flew the AH-1 Cobra helicopter that is displayed at Veterans Memorial Park will be visiting the helicopter on Saturday.
Bill Boodle, who was one of the first pilots if not the first pilot to use the helicopter in Vietnam, will visit the historical marker at 12:30 p.m.
An informal meet and greet will be held at the Wilkin Drink and Eatery from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday for people to come meet the veteran.
According to The Historical Marker Database, the helicopter was damaged in combat on three different occasions. It bears the names of two soldiers, Capt. Alvie J. Ledford and Warrant Officer William C. Pierson III, who operated the vehicle and were later killed in action flying a different aircraft.
