Overtime was needed to decide who was going to be crowned champions of Region 1 and move on to the state tournament. With the score tied at 45, Central Cass sank 11 free throws in OT to punch their ticket to the state tournament for the second year in a row with a 58-52 win over Kindred.

The Squirrels led by nine at halftime, but the Vikings mounted a comeback in the second half. With 0.5 seconds remaining and the score tied in the fourth quarter, a pair of Kindred free throws missed their mark to keep the game tied at the end of regulation.

Rylie Holzer hit three triples on her way to a team-high 14 points. Decontee Smith was also in double figures with a dozen as the Squirrels had eight players score in the victory.

Abby Duchsherer led the Vikings with 22 and Terryn Johnson chipped in a dozen.

The Squirrels were the top-ranked team in the state with Kindred being No. 2 in the final polls of the season.

Central Cass takes their 22-1 record to the Class B State Tournament, which begins March 11.

Kindred ends their season with a record of 19-4.
