A handful of Breckenridge-Wahpeton Bolt swimmers competed at Fargo Davies over the weekend in the last open short course meet this season. It proved to be a good meet for many time improvements.
Kialie Brevik, 10, improved most of her swims to win the 50 breaststroke, 50 freestyle and 50 backstroke. Brevik also placed runner-up in 100 back, 200 free and 100 breast. CeCe Beyer, 11, dropped 11 seconds in 100 back for ninth place and improved three seconds in 50 free for 15th.
Thea Gebhardt, 11, dropped 18 seconds in 200 individual medley for seventh and also placed seventh in 100 back. She also dropped time in 50 breast and 100 free for top-10 finishes, while adding more top-10 showings in 50 butterfly, back and free.
Evie Beyer, 9, picked up fourth in 50 breast with top-10 swims in 50 free and 100 back. Beyer joined Gebhardt, CeCe Beyer and Brevik to win the 200 free relay with a four-second improvement.
Kaylee Summerville, 9, improved in 50 back to place sixth and also earned sixth in 100 breast. Summerville added a 10th-place swim with a three-second improvement in 100 free.
Milo Selstedt, 14, was looking to improve his seedings for the state meet, and he did in almost every event. Selstedt took gold in the 100 fly (1:08.69), 100 back (1:11.93), 200 free (2:18.75) and 100 breast(1:21.86). He claimed silver in the 50 breast, 100 medley and 200 medley — all state-qualifying times.
Selstedt will join Harvey Fixen, 13, Maddy Beyer, 18, Isla Burgr, 13, Linnea Burgr, 15, and Elli Hendrickson, 17, at the 11-0ver state meet, March 19-22 at Hulbert Aquatic Center in West Fargo. The four-day meet runs a preliminary/finals format which can be challenging, but exciting.
