Wahpeton baseball trio heating up at University of Minnesota Crookston

A trio of Wahpeton Post 20 alumni are having breakthrough campaigns for the University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team. 

Jackson Fliflet, Tori Uhlich and Caden Kappes are putting up solid numbers for the Golden Eagles after winning multiple state championships for Wahpeton American Legion Baseball from 2020-23. 

Fliflet, a redshirt sophomore catcher, owns a .474 batting average with a ridiculous 1.596 OPS. The slugger has delivered six homers and four doubles across 38 at-bats. Fliflet has 16 runs batted in during his first season with the varsity squad. The backstop owns a .979 fielding percentage with five runners caught stealing.

Uhlich, a junior outfielder, joined Crookston following a decorated two-year career at North Dakota State College of Science. The speedster is batting .317 with six doubles and 17 runs scored through 14 games. Uhlich is 8 for 10 on stolen base attempts. He has a perfect fielding percentage on 43 total chances while tallying a double play and one outfield assist.

Kappes, a junior infielder, is batting .294 with four doubles through 11 starts, recording six RBIs and scoring six additional runs. The shortstop/second baseman holds a .960 fielding percentage with five double plays.

Minnesota Crookston is 8-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play. Fliflet was recently named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Player of the Week.
