For the first time all season, there’s a new team at the top of a Class AA basketball poll.
That is the Bismarck High boys, who were a unanimous choice in the poll conducted by the North Dakota Associated Press Sportswriters & Sportscasters Association and released Monday. Minot High’s girls stay atop the girls poll, as they have been all season.
Bismarck is 19-1 and will look to win the WDA regular season championship Tuesday at home against Century, who had been number one all season before this poll.
Minot remained on top of the girls poll despite a first loss of the season last Tuesday to Mandan. The Majettes came back Friday to clinch the WDA regular season title.
Also notable is that Fargo Davies is not in the boys’ top five. That is the first time that Davies has not been included in a poll since basketball went to three divisions in 2023-24.
