Maggie Westling (33) celebrates a career milestone with her NDSCS teammates
North Dakota State College of Science picked up a major Mon-Dak Conference sweep Sunday of Dawson Community College. The Lady Wildcats won 75-55 while the men hung on for a thrilling 89-85 victory.
Maggie Westling erupted for 29 points and 17 rebounds in the opener. The Lady Wildcat forward surpassed 1,000 career points in the process. Ava Boyes added 20 points and nine rebounds as NDSCS improved to 20-4 overall and 7-4 in conference play.
Ezrah Baker didn’t score in the contest, but left her paw prints all over the game with 12 rebounds and a game-high seven assists. Lolo Carlow added 13 points, five rebounds and three assists to the balanced effort.
The Wildcat men avenged a previous 110-89 road loss to the Buccaneers in a four-point win, improving to 23-3 overall and 8-1 in conference play. NDSCS now holds a 1 ½ game lead in the Mon-Dak and Region XIII standings.
John Angau led the scoring effort with 26 points, and Cham Okey added 21 points on 15-of-17 shooting from the foul line. Okey stuffed the stat sheet by adding nine rebounds, seven assists and three steals.
Jekany Deang added 18 points and four combined blocks/steals. Luke Christensen was also a factor in the paint, tallying nine points, eight rebounds and two blocks.
