Blades win sixth straight behind early scoring onslaught

The Breckenridge-Wahpeton Blades won their sixth straight hockey game Friday with an 8-1 home victory over Bagley/Fosston. The Blades have put a sluggish start in the rear-view mirror while bumping their season record to 9-8-1. 

Friday’s win was sparked by seven goals in the opening two periods. Josh Hofman led the charge with a hat trick and four total points. Jaxson Lopez and Gracin Kaste scored two goals apiece and combined for seven points. Easton Neppl scored one goal and dished out two assists.

Kai McDonald and Isaiah Bruechert each tallied two assists. Michael Petersen, Matt Petersen and Jaxon Breuer added one assist apiece.

Cale Gilbertson only faced 10 shots on goal and stopped nine of them, lowering his goals against average to 3.19 for the season.
