Cowgirls bounce back in section semifinal rematch

Parker Yaggie gets back on defense after making a three-pointer

The Breckenridge Cowgirls enacted revenge on the West Central Area Knights, winning their Section 6A Semifinal rematch Tuesday, 59-49.

The victory moved Breckenridge’s season record to 7-5 and dropped the Knights to 6-3. 

Parker Yaggie led Breckenridge with 19 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and six steals. Ava Jaehning also scored double figures, registering 10 points and four steals.

Emily Gowin and Johnica Bernotas bolstered the backcourt with nine and eight points, respectively. Bernotas added four rebounds to the box score. 

Sienna Fobb supplied eight points and four rebounds in the paint. The junior hit a three-pointer before the halftime buzzer to stretch the lead to 33-17. 

Mariah Koltes continued her rim protector role with a game-high three blocks.

The game featured suffocating full-court pressure from both defenses, as the Cowgirls tallied 25 turnovers and West Central Area had 30.
