The Breckenridge Cowboys started out slow Friday with a 30-27 halftime lead vs. Mahnomen/Waubun. Breckenridge blew it open after the break with 42 second-half points in a 72-48 home win, improving to 5-0 on the season.
Aidan Sanchez led the Cowboys in scoring with a season-high 25 points on 10-of-20 shooting. The junior guard added eight rebounds and two steals.
Cooper Roberts posted another double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. The senior point forward added six assists and shot 8 of 13 from the field.
Senior shooting guard Charlie Kratcha was also in double figures with 10 points. Senior forward Levi Christensen scored four points and tied Roberts with a game-high six assists.
Freshman point guard Brock Summerville supplied four assists and four steals. Avery Smith chipped in five points and a game-high five steals.
Breckenridge won the rebounding battle 46-34 and collected 25 assists compared to 11 dimes for the Thunderbirds.
The undefeated Cowboys head to Rothsay on Tuesday for game two of a program doubleheader against the Tigers. The Cowgirls will start the action with a 2:30 p.m. tip-off on B 92.7 and KBMW News Live YouTube.
