Breckenridge running back David Erlandson is the Sports Illustrated Minnesota Class 1A Football Player of the Year. The award was decided by online fan voting at si.com and saw Erlandson receive 11,428 votes, or 36 percent of the tally.
His teammate, wide receiver Cooper Roberts, was runner-up with 6,203 votes (19.56%). His other teammate, quarterback Riley Kappes, finished fourth with 2,928 votes (9.26%). Breckenridge defensive lineman Kai McDonald was also in the running and received 418 votes amongst the state’s best players.
