The Breckenridge Cowboys (3-0) kept their unbeaten record intact Friday, holding off a furious second-half comeback to beat the Barnesville Trojans (3-2), 67-64.

Breckenridge led by 10 with eight minutes left, but the Trojans charged back to grab the lead with two minutes remaining.

Senior forward Levi Christensen went to work with the game on the line, trudging through the low-post area for key points in the paint. Christensen closed the contest with a game-high 20 points and 10 rebounds, marking his second straight double-double.

The first half was highlighted by strong play from Cowboys point forward Cooper Roberts, who drilled a wing three and collected several second-chance points around the rim. The 6-foot-5 senior ended his night with 13 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

Cowboy senior Aidan Sanchez delivered some clutch buckets on his way to 14 points. The versatile guard added five rebounds and four assists.

Breckenridge point guard Brock Summerville stepped up in the rivalry atmosphere, finding open teammates for three-point looks and taking the ball to the rack off the dribble.

Summerville’s diving steal in the second half led to a momentum-shifting, fastbreak-and-one by Roberts. The feisty freshman finished with five points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals, while dishing out several highlight-reel passes.

Charlie Kratcha helped Breckenridge weather the storm by knocking down a pair of threes. Connor Ernst also buried a corner three to pause the Trojans’ second-half surge.

Breckenridge had a quick turnaround Saturday morning when they played Underwood at the Concordia Christmas Classic. Stay tuned for results from that game.
