The Breckenridge Cowboys won their second straight game to open the season, capturing a 70-59 road victory Tuesday at Lake Park-Audubon.
Senior forward Levi Christensen posted a bounce-back effort after scoring three points in the season opener, logging a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Christensen made all eight of his free-throw attempts and added a career-high six steals.
Junior guard Aidan Sanchez matched his game one output with 18 points while adding three steals and six rebounds to the box score. Senior point forward Cooper Roberts also hit double figures with 10 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Avery Smith scored seven points and Connor Ernst had six. Ernst continued his hot shooting from outside with a pair of threes, upping his season mark to 6 of 9 from beyond the arc.
The Cowboys shot a quiet 38 percent from the floor, but mitigated the damage by knocking down 19 of 25 free throws and winning the rebounding battle 48-25.
Breckenridge returns home Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. Heart O’ Lakes Conference battle against Barnesville. The game follows a 5:45 tip-off between the Cowgirls and Trojans.
