Bernotas shoots a floater during her junior season
Breckenridge senior Johnica Bernotas is signing to continue her basketball career at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton. The move keeps Bernotas local, where fans will have the opportunity to catch an extended look at the guard’s multifaceted skill set.
Bernotas, who missed nearly her entire sophomore campaign with a knee injury, returned last season to lead the Cowgirls in three-point percentage and reasserted herself as one of the top scorers on the team.
In addition to her perimeter shooting, Bernotas possesses plus tools as a ball handler, facilitator and high-motor defender. Through six games this year, Bernotas is averaging 10.o points, 2.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game.
She will join the Lady Wildcats and head coach Bryant Friskop for the 2026-27 season.
