Lady Huskies cruise to 40-point win in home opener

The Wahpeton Lady Huskies blew by the Lisbon Broncos on Thursday in the team’s 2025-26 home opener. The 73-33 win sent Wahpeton to 2-1 on the season.

Eighth grade phenom Piper Nelson dropped 22 points for the Huskies on 4-of-7 shooting from downtown, adding seven rebounds, five assists and four steals to a well-rounded performance.

Sophomore forward Claire Woods continued her early-season scoring surge with 19 points. Junior guard Cambri Mauch scored five points and added a game-high nine rebounds, five of them coming on the offensive glass.

Defensively, senior guard Claire Langenwalter led the way with five steals in a game that saw seven Huskies record multiple thefts.

Seventh grade guard Ashlynne Max had another promising game with eight points.
