Blades get decisive 7-2 home win against Storm

The Breckenridge-Wahpeton Blades hockey team hit the win column Thursday in a 7-2 home victory against Morris/Benson Area Storm, snapping a two-game losing streak.

Jack Ekren helped the Blades strike first with an opening-period goal, assisting Brennan Ritter score later in the period as the team grabbed a 2-0 lead.

Kai McDonald made it 3-0 in the second period on an even-strength goal assisted by Michael Petersen and Luke Craig. Easton Neppl capitalized on the power poll via an assist from Gracin Kaste to make it four unanswered goals.

Cayson Pinsonneault made it 5-0 with a short-handed goal in the third. Neppl and Lopez tallied the Blades’ final two goals. Both players joined Kaste and Petersen in the assist department.

Breckenridge-Wahpeton (1-2) travels to Willmar (0-2) on Saturday.
