Following a 2-0 start to the season, the North Dakota State College of Science football team came in at No. 2 in the NJCAA Division III rankings. The Wildcats slotted in behind defending national champion DuPage.
Hudson Valley, Minnesota West and Erie rounded out the top five. NDSCS travels to Minnesota West on Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff on B 92.7 FM.
NDSCS has outscored its first two opponents, Mayville State JV and Mesabi Range, by a combined score of 96-16. The Wildcats are averaging 418 yards per game and allowing a stingy 85.5 yards against.
Sophomore quarterback Jacob Mattick is leading the offensive charge, completing 80 percent of his passes for 299 yards and five touchdowns.
Michael Douglas Jr. leads the backfield with 161 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.
Ishmael Emmanuel-Holloway and Trevon Rodriguez have three touchdown receptions apiece, combining for more than 300 yards through the air.
Evan Lowry-Simpson leads the defensive front with two sacks, while Daemond Gibbons and Landan Reaves both have one interception in the secondary.
