Breckenridge Post 53 trounced Barnesville for the second time this summer, 10-1, behind Wednesday’s six-inning gem from starting pitcher Riley Kappes.
Kappes held Barnesville to five hits and didn’t issue a walk while striking out three. The righty has been magnificent at drawing weak contact, winning both of his starts and whittling his earned run average down to 1.34 across 15-plus innings.
Kappes was also instrumental with his bat, going 2-for-2 and tallying three runs and two stolen bases atop the order.
Connor Ernst followed suit in a 3-for-3 performance that included two runs batted in.
Jaxson Riggs and Logan Church did their job in the middle of the lineup with two RBIs apiece. Gavin Hoffert and Jordan Teberg added an RBI each.
Hoffert, Charlie Kratcha and Vogelbacher all recorded a steal.
Cooper Roberts tossed a scoreless seventh in his first pitching appearance.
Breckenridge carried a 4-3 record into the Montevideo Tournament this past weekend. Stay tuned for complete results in Tuesday’s sports report and located under the sports tab at kbmwnews.com.
