Wahpeton Post 20 split a Wednesday doubleheader against the Fargo Post 400 Comets, losing the opener 8-3 and taking the nightcap 12-3.

Aiden Hajek nearly hit for the cycle in game two. The starting pitcher belted his first career home run in the third inning, singled in the fourth and tripled in the fifth.

Hajek reached base in all four of his plate appearances, driving in four runs and scoring three more in the mammoth performance.

The slugger pushed his season average to .558 through 41 plate appearances.

Hajek (2-0) was also the winning pitcher, striking out four batters through four frames. The righty allowed three runs on four hits and one walk.

Carter Hockert, Brayden Steffens and Cayson Pinsonneault scored two runs each. Ryan Braun, Aiden Hendrickson, Trey King and Steffens all found the RBI column.

Riley Jones, Braxton Heitkamp, Pinsonneault and Hockert combined for five steals in the win.

Post 20 committed only one error in the nightcap and now holds an 8-3 overall record. Wednesday’s twin bill marked the beginning of the Class “A” East Region schedule.
