Wildcats land 5 players on NFCA All-American Team

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its NJCAA DIII 1st Team All-Americans on Monday, with five North Dakota State College of Science Wildcats making the list on the heels of a national championship season.

Caitlyn Dannenfelzer earned the nod at catcher. The sophomore backstop batted .384 with 21 extra-base hits (7 home runs), 52 RBIs and a team-high 75 runs scored. 

Dannenfelzer also tallied 40 steals as a baserunner and posted a .988 fielding percentage behind the plate.

Rayelle Cooley made the list at second base. The freshman led NDSCS with a .427 batting average, 22 doubles and 33 extra-base hits. 

Cooley racked up 63 RBIs and 61 runs scored atop the batting order.

Blythe Proulx earned her spot in the outfield by leading the Wildcats with 13 home runs. The freshman batted .372 and added 10 doubles to her resume.

Meredith Frey joined Proulx in the outfield after leading the nation with 63 stolen bases. The sophomore slapper batted .407 with 18 extra-base hits.

Emma Johnson made the list in the Joan Joyce Utility/Pitcher role. The sophomore batted .373 with nine homers, 40 runs scored and a team-high 63 RBIs.

In the circle, Johnson posted a 12-5 record with a 2.30 earned run average. Johnson posted 105 strikeouts to 18 walks across 103 2/3 innings.
