The Breckenridge Cowboys fell to Parkers Prairie by a score of 12-2, before bouncing back with a 6-5 come-from-behind win over Long Prairie-Grey Eagle on Thursday.
The upset victory keeps Breckenridge alive in the Section 6A Baseball Tournament. Long Prairie-Grey Eagle entered the contest with an 18-1 record compared to an 11-9 mark for the Cowboys.
Cooper Roberts had the game-winning RBI double after also registering two of his team’s three hits in the first game of the day.
Breckenridge scored four runs in the sixth to snatch the lead away from the Thunder.
Lawson Oliphant anchored the lineup in the No. 9 spot with a 2-for-3 performance. Gavin Hoffert, Connor Ernst and Tucker Snyder drove in one run apiece.
Riley Kappes went the distance on the hill, scattering five hits and five runs to secure the win. The righty threw 107 pitches (71 strikes) while walking four and striking out two.
