The Breckenridge baseball team traveled to Long Prairie-Grey Eagle on Friday to face one of the premiere teams in Section 6A. Breckenridge led for a portion of the game, before the Thunder broke out for six runs in the sixth inning of a 10-9 victory.
Seventh-ranked LPGE moved to 13-1 overall and 10-0 in section play. Breckenridge fell to 6-6 overall and 1-2 in the section. The teams sit second and fourth, respectively, in the Section 6A North standings.
Cooper Roberts led the Cowboy lineup in a 2-for-4 day that included a double, three runs scored and two RBIs. Connor Ernst also doubled and scored twice. Gavin Hoffert drew a pair of walks and scored twice in the leadoff spot. Gabe Armitage singled and drove in three.
Trey Vogelbacher had a nice start on the hill despite allowing five earned runs. The righty scattered seven hits across five innings, walking two and striking out six.
Vogelbacher was saddled with the loss when the Breckenridge bullpen let up three runs. The senior added two RBIs at the plate.
Colton Park sparked the Thunder at the dish with two hits and four RBIs. Travis Warner added a pair of hits in the No. 8 spot.
