Allmaras smacks 3 doubles as NDSCS splits with Lake Region State

The North Dakota State College of Science baseball team picked up a road split with Lake Region State on Thursday. The Wildcats won the opener, 9-5, before losing 8-5 in the back half.

Game one was highlighted by Masen Allmaras’ boomstick in the No. 2 spot of the order. The Kindred product went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Allmaras batted 5-for-8 with three doubles during the twin bill, lifting his season average to .356.

Hudson Ver Steeg drew the opening start and fired 5 and ⅔ innings, surrendering two earned runs on two hits and three walks. Ver Steeg struck out seven batters.

Former Wahpeton pitcher Nick Zach earned his second straight save, working around a pair of walks while striking out one in a scoreless seventh.

Tori Uhlich got his bat going in game two with a 3-for-3 performance atop the order. Ryan Loewe (Lave) and Trace King both doubled in the loss.

NDSCS finishes the season slate against the Royals evenly at 2-2. The Wildcats are 11-21 overall with six games remaining in the regular season.
