Lawson Oliphant (right) delivered an opposite field RBI single Thursday

The Breckenridge Cowboys suffered a 15-2 loss at the hands of the Hawley Nuggets on Thursday. The Cowboys’ home opener was marred by 10 errors.

Lawson Oliphant delivered an RBI single and Riley Kappes hit a double to highlight the Breckenridge batting order. Cooper Roberts and Logan Church both singled.

Trey Vogelbacher allowed nine runs across 3.2 innings in his first start of the spring — none of the runs were earned. Connor Ernst pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless relief while striking out three. Gabe Armitage was tagged for six unearned runs in one inning of work. 

Breckenridge will take an 0-2 record into Monday’s home game against Wahpeton.
