Patriots tally 14 hits to beat Breckenridge in season opener

The Breckenridge Cowboys suffered a 14-4 loss at Upsala/Swanville to begin the season Tuesday. Breckenridge burned through four pitchers and committed four errors in the loss.

Logan Church drew the start and allowed seven runs (four earned) in the first inning. Riley Kappes, Tucker Snyder and Lawson Oliphant each allowed multiple runs in two innings or less on the mound, as Upsala/Swanvilled churned out 14 hits.

Hunter Moore, Calvin Leners and Jack Primus each doubled for the Patriots. Leners, Zach Johnson and Isaac Gapinski posted multi-hit games.

Primus worked around six hits and three walks to earn the win. He struck out seven and allowed three earned runs across 4.2 innings.

The Breckenridge batting order was led by two hits each from Church and Gabe Armitage, the latter of which tallied two doubles. Paul Armitage went 1-for-2 with an RBI and Gavin Hoffert also drove in a run for the Cowboys.
