
The No. 2-ranked North Dakota State College of Science softball team went 2-2 at Miles Community College over the weekend. The teams remained tied atop the Mon-Dak Conference standings with two losses against one another.
Miles took Saturday’s opener, 9-8, before the Wildcats snatched a 12-4 win to end the afternoon. Caitlyn Dannenfelzer, Emma Johnson and Blythe Proulx each hit a home run in the victory.
Grace Folkema earned the win, scattering four hits across four innings while allowing one earned run. Folkema struck out six and walked one.
Sunday started with an 8-1 Pioneers victory. The Wildcats answered with a 14-9 win to close the weekend. Dannenfelzer and Proulx homered once again.
Rayelle Cooley, Kendyl Moss, Heeley Taylor, Ava Howard and Proulx each doubled in a signature power display from the Wildcats.
Johnson battled through five frames to earn the win. She allowed six hits and four earned runs while striking out two.
NDSCS (21-12-1) travels to Central Lakes for a Friday doubleheader. Weather permitting, the Wildcats home opener is slated for Saturday against Bottineau at 1 and 3 p.m.
